Been thinking how I want to approach these studies, and what would be most helpful. I really find the daily gestures to be incredibly useful, though I feel 30 second gestures are probably the sweet spot for me. Once I'm back into the groove of things I'll probably just do a full page of 30 second gestures daily.

So with the hand studies, I've been doing 2 sets. The first set is 60 second hand studies.

f:id:cosmiclatte:20181108213110j:plain

The second set is just general hand studies, with no time limit so I can just observe things a bit more clearly. I think it's been very helpful so far.

Lastly, and I just started this yesterday, but I've been doing a free draw session with no reference, just to practice putting it in action. Obviously the goal of all studies is to be able to bring it into your actual drawings, so I just decided perhaps what would be most helpful is to just implement a free sketch at the end where I can just draw a character making some gesture with their hands. I settled on using sign language, as that was a very clear way using hand gestures. I'll be going through the alphabet one letter per day, and hopefully make adjustments as is needed.

I'm not sure on their hairstyle yet, I just know I wanted something with an undercut. Also, I should probably just stick to one outfit instead of drawing a different outfit each time, as I feel that would probably get too far removed from what I am trying to practice at the moment.

And... I thought it'd be a neat idea to draw a character taking suggestions from the chat to decide how they'd look. Somehow we ended up with this...

f:id:cosmiclatte:20181105003901j:plain

A character created with the contributions of my stream chat deciding what features/colours to go with. The list is as follows:

  • long/short hair: one side long, the other side short
  • straight/curly hair: straight
  • sharp/soft eyes: soft
  • glasses/no glasses: glasses
  • short/long sleeves: short
  • tight/wide collar: wide
  • large/small chest: small
  • shorts/skirt: skirt
  • long/short skirt: short
  • tights/thigh highs/bare legs: fishnets
  • accessories: hair clip, hair ribbon, ribbon choker, earrings, ear piercings, watch

And yes... if you were wondering, all the colours were picked out by the chat as well. Not sure I'll ever trust my chat's taste in colour again.

On a different topic, I'm really enjoying Bunny Girl Senpai. As of episode 5 I'm certain it's the show I'm enjoying most this season. The character dialogue and interactions are a treat to watch, and while I understand why everybody loves Mai so much, my heart really fell for Koga. She's flawed in many ways, but I found a lot of what she felt to be really relatable. Plus, her voice is super cute.

Lastly, in response to some of the comments left on my previous post.

@edeni the topic of commissions is probably one of the most commonly asked questions I get these days, and all I can say at this point is I'm considering taking maybe just one or two before 2018 ends. I'd prefer to just work on my own projects, so even if I do it wouldn't be cheap, just to give fair warning in advance.

@SavageVanilla thank you for the kind words! I'm the same way in streams, don't worry. I like lurkers, it keeps the stream nice and peaceful. As for a playlist, I mostly just play songs from a local playlist I have, and even then I normally just pick out songs/albums as I stream, since I want the music to match my mood. I can say from memory the OSTs I was playing during that stream were from "Hakumei to Mikochi", "Houseki no Kuni", "Yuru Camp", "Sora Yori", "Girls und Panzer" and "Kokosake". As for the other music, the band I was listening to is called "Kinoko Teikoku". This is one of their newer songs that I really love, but if you want to check out the specific album I was listening to it's called "Uzu ni naru".

Thanks to everyone for the positive comments! I hope you're all doing well, and thank you for the support.

It's been awhile, sorry. Haven't been feeling too well, but hopefully I'm back on track now.

Somebody on my stream asked me to include this unfinished drawing in this post. I never got around to finishing it, but here was the picture. It's actually rare that I get past the lineart stage and just decide not to finish a drawing, but turns out it still happens to me.

Also, it's a bit late to respond now but I'll write it anyway. In response to Swooning Penguin's comment from the previous post. I don't have a Patreon, to be honest I would like to have something worth accepting money for first, that way I could give something I feel is actually valuable to thank anybody who threw some coins my way. To your second question, I like Pierre the most of them but that's largely due to my bias for characters with blonde hair. Not to mention Pierre has short hair too, which I think is very cute. He's probably my favorite character from SideM to draw, although Saki is probably my favorite actual character in SideM. It's sort of like how I really enjoyed drawing Nozomi from Love Live the most, even though Eli was my favorite. Sometimes the character you love the most isn't the easiest one to draw. But it's okay because (in both cases) I like both the characters.

Anyway, I've been checking out some of the shows airing this season, and so far the three I've really been enjoying are:

f:id:cosmiclatte:20181027223748j:plainIrozuku Sekai no Ashita kara was probably the show I was most anticipating leading up to the Fall season, an original script with PA Works production had me very interested in where they would be going with this. Out of the three shows I've been enjoying most, this has definitely been a slow burn compared to the other two, but I hope with episode 4 it will begin to find its stride and develop into something really special.

f:id:cosmiclatte:20181027223805j:plainSSSS.Gridman was another show on my radar, mostly due to the character designs really appealing to me. It's been a really enjoyable watch, the characters are lively and the action feels quite nice. It's a really fun watch, and based on how things are playing out it looks like it's striving to be more ambitious than I first expected.

f:id:cosmiclatte:20181027223855j:plainSeishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai would have been a sleeper hit for me, if not for the fact that I really love bunny girls and was looking forward to watching this based on the title alone. Even then, I was really caught off guard by just how good it would be, expecting a slightly above-average show. I ended up sitting through possibly one of the most well-paced and well-directed first 3 episodes I've seen in a very long time from an anime. While I was looking foward to both Irozuku and Gridman more prior to the season, I really have to say Bunny Girl Senpai won me over after episode 3, and I've found myself enjoying it very much.

f:id:cosmiclatte:20181027224357j:plainAlso, while not from last season, I ended up watching Hakumei to Mikochi with a friend of mine, and that has honestly got to be one of the comfiest anime I've ever seen. Not just this year, but just in general. It's incredibly warm and relaxing, each episode introduces some really well-written and interesting characters, and the amount of thought and consideration put into the smallest details is really impressive and helps highlight some things that would otherwise go unnoticed. If you're looking for a show to watch before snuggling into bed, I would really recommend this one. Just one piece of advice though, make sure you have some food ready when you watch it, because the amount these potatos eat during each episode is enough to make you want to munch on something yourself.

P.S. Thank you to everybody who showed up on the stream just to leave a nice message of encouragement. The people who did probably won't read this, but I wanted to say it anyway. It was really encouraging to read through some of the heartfelt comments, and really brightened my day. Thanks!

A good friend of mine just turned 29, so I drew them one of their favorite characters. It has really been awhile since I last drew Nozomi, but she's still fun to draw.

Also, apologies for the delay with the short story. I'm working on the next 4 chapters as a batch, and will try to release them closer together so it's taking a longer time. Chapter 3 is already completed though, so hopefully the rest will come along soon enough.

Oh and that bongo cat has been going around a lot recently. I tried making it into a hat just smacking a schoolgirl in the face repeatedly.

@taka I feel the same way about SoraYori, everytime the insert songs came in I felt that hit of emotion. I loved Hinata too, but the entire cast was incredible. I think by the end I like Shirase the most, that scene where she stood up for Hinata was my favorite.
